Born in Victoria, married Marie in August 1962. We had 3 children Brett, Shane & Tracey.
I worked in the spare parts industry for a Holden dealership for a total of 14 years and for 7 of those years was the Spare Parts Manger and Purchasing Officer. We then purchased our first business a Licensed Self Service Supermarket in a rural community called Romsey northwest of Melbourne past the Tullamarine Airport.
We moved to Queensland in 1979, so guess I must nearly be a Queenslander by now. My son Brett talked me into buying our first computer which was an Apple IIE. I hated it; it never did what I wanted and was always playing up. We then bought a IBM clone and about this stage Brett saw and advert in the local paper which read something like this. “Any like minded people wishing to learn about computers ring Eric”.
Brett made the first contact and about 6 to 8 of us met in Eric’s lounge room back in 1988 from that meeting I was part of the steering committee that formed the Club, which was first called “Pine Rivers IBM Compatible Computer Club”. Eric Comino was our first President and I became the first Vice President. The name was changed at a later date to “Pine Rivers Computer Club Inc.” And the rest as they say is history.
